Hanalei
Hanalei ringed by majestic mountains is a very charming and picturesque historic plantation era town with many shops and a wide variety of restaurants and pubs.
Kilauea National Wildlife Refuge
Kilauea National Wildlife Refuge at Kauai's northernmost point once guided ships heading to and from the Orient. Observe a myriad of sea birds, whales (in winter), panoramic sea and island views.
Kapaa
Kapaa on Kauai's eastern shore has many shops, a variety of regular and ethnic restaurants, several supermarkets, and pharmacies.
Wailua River
Kauai's Wailua River is a popular kayaking destination. Jungle waterfalls can be found upstream along with ancient Hawaiian village heiaus and a replica of an old Hawaiian village.
Lydgate State Park and Lagoon
Lydgate State Park and Lagoon near the mouth of the Wailua River is a family favorite for its protected lagoon for kids & good snorkeling as well as seaside pavilions to picnic and barbecue.
Lihue Airport
Lihue Airport is Kauai's entry point for virtually all airline passengers. A few miles to the west towards Poipu is the Kukui Grove Mall which has an array of shops and restaurants.
Shipwreck Beach
Shipwreck Beach on Keoneloa Bay is a long beach often better suited to strong swimmers and surfers. However, it is a great beach any time of the year to walk along, for beach combing and sunbathing.
Brennecke Beach
Brennecke Beach comprises the eastern part of Poipu Beach Park. It is world renowned for its consistent and easy to catch body boarding and body surfing waves.
Poipu Beach
Poipu Beach, Kauai's premier resort area with year around sunny weather, cool trade winds, beaches and clear waters. Known for its beauty, recreation and luxurious resorts.
Koloa
Historic Koloa gives more than a glimpse of the Plantation era. This is the town closest to the Poipu Beach area with choices in dining, shops and markets.
Kalaheo
Kalaheo is near to to Kukuiolono Golf Course (9 holes) which was once a Kauai plantation owner's estate. With bargain green fees and commanding views Kukuiolono Golf Course is a Kauai treasure.
Port Allen
Port Allen is the embarkation point for Na Pali and Niihau boating adventures which include great snorkeling and stupendous viewing with occasional jumping porpoises, sea turtles, whales and seals.
Waimea
Waimea town has historical sites dating from before the Polynesian migration to the islands. It beautifully reflects its culture and heritage in its stores and even a micro brewery-restaurant.
Waimea Canyon
Waimea Canyon, also called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, cuts 2,700 dramatic feet into the heart of Kauai. Kokee Mountain Park, with its many hiking trails is just a few miles further up the road.
Kekaha
Kekaha, the western most town in the U.S. is a very small picturesque village located along a huge sandy beach popular with winter surfers and also with swimmers and picnickers.
Polihale Beach
Polihale Beach is at the western most end of Kauai's Na Pali Coast. Majestic cliffs frame an enormous stretch of brilliant white sand. Great for sunset picnics and incredible star gazing.
Na Pali
Na Pali where 1000 foot sea cliffs plunge precipitously into the azure sea. Ke'e Beach at the "end of the road" offers great snorkeling and lagoon swimming. Rare sea turtles are sometimes seen here.
Haena Beach Park
Haena Beach Park includes several sandy beaches for swimming, snorkeling and surfing, a large seaside cavern and views of Na Pali to the north.
Kalalau Trail
The famous Kalalau Trail to uninhabited valleys and remote beaches begins at Ke'e State Beach Park. Even a twenty minute hike on the trail rewards one with unforgettably dramatic views.
Koke'e State Park
Koke'e State Park encompassing 4345 mountain top acres with 45 miles of trails. Gorgeous views of Kalalua Valley and many things to explore, including a small but interesting nature musuem.
